Your Privacy Choices
Last updated April 27, 2026
Cue the Music Man gives you a few straightforward ways to control what the app can access and what it keeps.
1. Apple Music access
You can allow or deny Apple Music access. If you revoke access, Cue will no longer be able to search the Apple Music catalog, preview tracks, or export playlists to your library.
2. Microphone access for Shazam
You can allow or deny microphone access. If microphone access is off, song recognition through Shazam will not work.
3. Playlist storage and iCloud sync
You can choose whether saved playlists sync with your private iCloud storage. If playlist sync is on, deleting the app removes the local app copy but does not automatically delete previously synced iCloud playlist data. If playlist sync is off, playlists remain local to the device and deleting the app removes them.
You can always remove playlists by deleting them in the app. If playlist sync is off, Cue also provides a separate option to delete synced iCloud playlist data without deleting the local copy on the current device.
4. Share links
If you choose to share a playlist, the resulting link may contain playlist information needed to reopen or remix it. If you do not want that information shared, do not create or distribute a share link.
5. Help improve Cue
You can choose whether to turn on the optional Help improve Cue setting. If it is on, Cue may upload eligible prompts, generated playlists, and limited related metadata from that device to help improve playlist quality.
This setting is off by default, applies only to the device where you enable it, and does not sync automatically across your devices through iCloud. Turning it off stops future collection from that device, but does not automatically delete samples that were already uploaded before you turned it off.
To change this setting in Cue, open Settings in the app and turn Help improve Cue on or off.
6. Manage permissions on iPhone
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap Cue the Music Man.
- Adjust Apple Music or Microphone access there.
